Answer
Hi Edgar,

The easy answer is that you need the idle speed screw adjusted out alittle bit and that might be all it needs. You might also need a tune-up that would include plugs, wires, cap and rotor, air and fuel filters and then see where the idle is. Depending on your engine the carb. might be getting varnished inside and partially restricting an internal passage. On the subject of carburetors there is a vacuum solenoid that is on the drivers side front that is supposed to raise the idle speed once the engine starts...it could have a vacuum leak in the diaphragm that is causing a slower idle once the engine has warmed up. It has a vacuum plug on the end that if removed will crate a vacuum leak and the engine rpms will increase. If it doesn't increase then that might be a good place to start for a permanent repair is replace that solenoid.

Give those a try starting with the solenoid with the engine warmed up and see what happens. Then try the idle speed screw and then the tune-up followed by the carb. rebuild. Of course taking it to your mechanic for a firsthand diagnostic isn't a bad idea either. Bill
