Cadillac Repair: changing headlight assembly on 89 deVille, inboard side, exact procedure

Question
The lens cover cracked on the headlight light. I have to replace the whole assembly. There seems to be hidden screws and bolts behind and beside the right light.(The one I have to replace).I removed the metal frame, rubber, clips, got to the light fom behind; there is a bolt or something between the assembly and the frame. Also, there is no way I can figure out how to get a torque or whatever is needed to get the screw that is on the right side of the of the light out. Why can't this be Easy???

Answer
Diana,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you but I wanted to get back to my office and verify the procedure for you. It's virtually impossible to remember the location of every fastener on these cars, let alone the exact procedure for replacing parts. A wise old instructor of mine, back in the Navy once pointed out "that's why they have manuals".
Anyways, on your car, there's two nuts on the outboard side of the headlamp capsule that face rearward, and two screws on the inboard side that face forward. Access the rear facing ones by removing the cornering lamp, and the forward facing ones through the grille.
Hope this helps.
