i have 1990 coupe deville and the air compresor runs when the car is off how do i get it to stop

The ELC system in your car is powered at all times so therefore it "could" run while the ignition is off. The height sensor has a built-in time limiter of 7 minutes, so if it's ever running more than that, replace the height sensor. If it only runs intermittently for <7min. the system is ok but obviously has at least one leak. To minimize compressor use, you should locate and repair the leak(s).
