My boyfiend has a 1985 Cadillac Seville.  What would make the wipers operate slow, at any speed and the battery to lose charge.  I also noticed while following the vehicle the rear drivers side brake lights become dim also. He has replaced the alternator.

Have the charging system tested at most any auto parts store such as Autozone or Checkers or NAPA which they will gladly do for free.

The problem can be a faulty alternator even though you replaced it, I have seen many alternators right out of the box that were faulty. Your problem can also be the positive and negative battery cables as they tend to corrode internally.

Please let me know after you have the charging system tested.
