Cadillac Repair: 96 Eldorado ABS, rear wheel speed, code displays

Question
QUESTION: I took my car to a repair shop because my ABS/Traction control lights were on. My symptoms were that I occasional felt a momentary roughness/vibration in my break pedal. My ABS light comes on after a while. Also, the pulse in the break pedal in gone. He told me that the left rear wheel sensor needed to be replaced. When I got the car back the light was still on and the symptoms were the same. He said there were no other codes left in the computer and that it definitely had a bad sensor. he said he did not know what else was wrong and to let him know if I found out. CAN YOU BEAT THAT!! so here I am, can you tell me How to retrieve the ABS codes if possible. Or, tell me how to diagnose what the problem might be?

ANSWER: To retrieve the codes from the computers:

1. Ignition ON. Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER (^) buttons on your climtate control panel for 3 seconds and release them.

Codes will start to appear in the form of LETTERS and NUMBERS and will finally stop when you see PCM?

As EACH code displays on the fuel data panel  you will see the word HISTORY or CURRENT also appear.

I need to know what codes you get and if the code is CURRENT or HISTORY.

After you write down all the codes turn OFF the ignition .

QUESTION: Thanks For your answer!! If you recall, the rear left wheel sensor and hub was replaced. But, I thought I'd check it out anyway.

I attached a DC volt meter To the rear left wheel sensor and turned the wheel to see if there was any voltage. The meter registered a small amount of voltage fluctuating  betweem .01 and 2.3.volts., If could rotate the tire  fasterl I think the voltage would have been higher. Also, I did a continuity test on the wire that plugs into the sensor and found that it waS NOT shorted. The ANS/Traction control light is still on. What next? I'M getting desperate.

Answer
WHY did you replace the hub and bearing ?. I told you that you have a fault in the left rear wheel speed sensor circuit, NOT necessarily in the wheel speed sensor itself.

You can obtain test procedures that you can do using the climate control panel to test some circuits and an ohm and DC meter to test the others. However, You will need pictures and directives and pictures are not allowed on this person's website. If you E-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com he can provide you with ALL the information for testing ALL the circuits.
