Cadillac Repair: Cadillac Seville 1989, cadillac seville, haynes manual

Question
Just rebuilt my entire engine because of a camshaft problem but I have enverything back together but the "Air Pump"  It sounds like a bogus part to begin with but my serpentine belt wont work without it.  I have tried to figure out how to mount the darn thing but I can only figure out the top bolts but the place where the bottom mounting bolts there is nothing to bolt too.  I have a Haynes manual but no pics show that angle of the engine, and I have looked and looked but cant find a missing part.  I hope you can understand the question.  I'm just stumped.  Are there any internet sites that give a diagram or pics that could show the air pump pully from different angles?  Will it really matter if it isnt working?

Answer
Hi Michael,

On the top the bolt goes in from the front and into an A shaped bracket that bolts to the power steering pump bracket. On the bottom there is a 4" long rod that goes from the a/c compressor bolt up to the air pump. If the computor doesn't see a change in air movement then a service engine trouble code might set.

As far as a good diagram the autozone.com site under vehivle repair guides give a somewhat picture but not what you are looking for. Eithor you will need to get ahold of the factory repair manual...maybe your library has a manual in the '86-'90 range for the deville, eldo or seville and that might help. Otherwise subscribe to alldata.com and they will have pictures that you can use.

       Hope that helps. Bill
