Cadillac Repair: SIR, torque converter, professional facility

Hello, I have an 1992  Deville and have owned it since new. The SIR dash light came on a couple of weeks ago.It blinks 7 times and then remains on. I've checked all connections and all are good.No accidents and all equipment is original. Other codes are E96. Could use your input on the matter. Thank you Dave

E96 = transmission torque converter overstress. Is this code a CURRENT or HISTORY code ?. I would suggest that you CLEAR (erase) the code from the computer via the climate control panel and see if it comes back as CURRENT or HISTORY.

The SIR light means that there is a fault in your AIR BAG system and I HIGHLY recommend that you have  a professional facility perform the test procedures and the repair so as NOT to accidentally deploy the air bags and possibly injure or KILL you while trying to work on the system.
