Cadillac Repair: stalling cadillac, ac delco, position sensors

1995 caillac deville sedan ,4.9 v8. have changed the ox senser and cleaned the  fuel bank system have 30 pounds of fuel pressure and  changed the egr  system and the  idol fuel control is ok. still quits now and then . no codes on the reader. now we have a to83 code. not sure what it is. can you help?  whaat is to 83 mean/ THANKS RICK

Hi Rick,

      You need to tell me what engine you have because there isn't a code to83 for the 4.9liter engine. However there is a PO83 for the 4.6liter Northstar engine. It means that the 24X reference signal is high. Basically it means there is a problem with one of the crankshaft position sensors/CPS or the wireing to the ignition control module from the CPS. That engine has 2 CPS near the oil filter. They should measure between 800 and 1600 ohms. If out of that range it needs to be replced or stalling can happen. In '00 Cadillac had a campaign on the '00 Deville with the 4.6liter and if one sensor was bad it was recommended that both be replaced. So if one of your CPS was out of that rage replace both of them and I would reccommend useing an AC Delco part because some sensors out there aren't very reliable.
