Cadillac Repair: fuel pump 1996 deville, gas tank, fuel meter

I just had my fuel pump replaced and the digital display stays on full and the range is higher than I can get on a tank of gas. I have reset on the gauges on the dash.  My question is - is the fuel pump defective of does the computer need resetting after a new fuel pump?

If the dash gage stays on FULL all the time even when you know you only have half a tank of gas or less. The fuel meter in the gas tank is faulty or got mispositioned when they installed the fuel pump Or they missed the small black ground wire that attaches to the gas tank and grounds on the frame of the vehicle.
