Cadillac Repair: Body Computer, oil consumption, number combinations, oil consumption

Question
QUESTION: 1999 Sedan DeVille w/120,000 miles. Car purchased 5 months ago w/105,000 miles.  1 qt. of oil every 1500 mi.  No apparent leakage and/or unusual exhaust fumes. Is this normal or what should I look for?

Battery was bad, alarm went off, car radio does not turn off when door is opened w/ignition off.  Replaced battery.  Alarm is o.k. still have the radio stays on problem.  Initially after battery replacement the problem was intermittent.  Now it is continuous.  Please help as this problem is apparently drawing current and draining the battery.  I turn the radio switch off but the clock read-out continues and I am reasonably sure other circuits remain active and drain the battery.

Thanks you so much

ANSWER: Your oil usage is NORMAL for a Cadillac.

Most likely a fault in the clock. I can provide PICTURES and diagnostic procedures for you to test the circuits if you E-mail me at: onlineautohelp@msn.com

QUESTION: Pleased to hear the oil consumption is normal.  thank you.

More data on the electrical problem.
With engine running, radio "on", w.s. wipers "on":
1.  Turn engine off and remove the key.
2.  Radio continues playing, wipers continue running (normal)
3.  Open the door;  radio continues playing, wipers continue running. (not normal)
4.  When I turn the wiper switch off, wipers stop running.
5.  When I turn the radio switch off, the radio stops playing but the clock remains on.

Is this still a clock problem or ??

Thanks again

ANSWER: Check your computer for CODES via:

1. Ignition ON. Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER (^) buttons for 3 seconds and release them.

3. See if any LETTER/NUMBER combinations appear along with the word CURRENT or HISTORY with EACH code that displays and then the display will stop at ACM?. If no LETTER/NUMBER codes appear after you perform step 2 above, Press the LO (v) (fan speed) button until you see ACM?

4. Press the HI (fan speed) button until ACM CODES? appears.

5. Press the HI (fan speed) button until ACM DTC appears.

QUESTION: Display results:

NO PCM, NO IPC, NO ACM, NO SDM, NO TCS, NO PZM,
IRC U1255 HISTORY
RFA U1300 HISTORY
PCM?
Problem is still there.
Is this data useful?  Hope so.
Thanks again.

Answer
OK, You had an intermittent short, most likely in the radio that is no longer shorted at this time.

Let's CLEAR (erase) all the codes via:

4. Press the HI (fan speed) button until ACM CODES? appears.

5. Press the LO (fan speed) button until ACM CLEAR CODES appears.

6. Press the HI (fan speed) button until ACM CODES CLEAR appears. Wait 3 seconds and turn OFF the ignition.

See if this resolves your problem.
