Cadillac Repair: 1997 Cadillac Deville - Shift door locks, negative battery cable, amp meter

Question
Hello

I have a 1997 Cadillac Deville.  Yesterday when I parked the car, the doors did not automatically unlock as they usually do.  (I unlocked them using the power lock and locked with the remote after I turned the car off and left, everything seemed ok)

When I got to the car in the morning, I unlocked it using the remote.  When I tried to start the car, it did not start...it didn't even turn over, the battery is dead.  After trying a couple of times and playing with the radio, the power locks stopped working completely (remote obviously didn't work either)

I'm wondering, could the fact that it didn't unlock the doors when I put it in park the night before result in the battery being drained?  Was it trying to unlock the doors overnight or am I looking at more then 1 problem here?

Any input would be appreciated

Thank you

Answer
WHY were you PLAYING with the radio ?.

Charge the battery.

You need to install an amp meter between the negative battery post and the negative battery cable to see how many amps is being drawn from the battery when it is in the overnight setup.

Maximum amperage draw is just over 1/2 amp.
