Cadillac Repair: cutting off then starting back up, intermittent fault, filter screen

my 1995 deville cuts off on me and I don't know why. Fuel pump checked out to be ok. It cuts off then starts back up.

Possibilities are:

1. Intermittent fault in fuel pump.

2. Intermittent fault in ignition system.

3. Excessive debris within the gas tank that when the fuel pump is running it sucks up this debris onto the filter screen and blocks the fuel flow to the engine and when the engine stops the fuel pump also stops and the debris falls back down to the bottom of the fuel tank and this process repeats itself over and over and over.

Is or has the CHECK ENGINE light ever illuminated prior to the engine stalling out ?.
