Cadillac Repair: Automatic Trunk Release, trunk release, test light

On my 97 Cadillac ElDo my automatic trunk release doesn't work.. My newly bought key transmitter nor the button on the dash will open it.. Where should I start??

Hi Tony,

      Cadillac has a button that won't allow the trunk to open will the remote or the release button and it is usually inside the glovebox. Make sure that it isn't locking out the release operation.

      Open the trunk manually and using a test light or voltmeter make sure power is getting to the release solenoid when the button is pushed. Maybe a fuse is bad, the solenoid could be defective or maybe it is unplugged.

      Try those things and see what happens. Let us know if you need more help. Bill
