Cadillac Repair: ATE Teves Mark II ABS problem, 1990 cadillac seville, cadillac seville

Question
Tom,

I have a 1990 Cadillac Seville 4.5L V8 with ABS light on and ABS no longer working.

I think it all started a month ago when I slammed on my brakes and the ABS worked to stop my skid, but soon thereafter the ABS light kept coming on and off as it still goes on and latter goes of in half hour intervals or so.  I then replaced my brake fluid as it was seven years old and I thought it might have a tiny air bubble in system that was causing ABS light to stay on and this might fix it.  The pads are low and have .25” remaining.  Now the pedal feels a bit tighter, but ABS light did not change.  Guy at Cady dlr. Told me to skid car on dirt with rt wheels on dirt and left wheels on dry pavement as this might release a stuck or sticky valve or some part.  I tried this but could not get the ABS to pulsate/function, even when the ABS light was off, and even abter I cleared the ECM & BCM fault codes.

Also around the same time I replaced a tiny electrical bracket inside the drivers side wheel well that was missing since I bought the car that I recently found at a junk yard that this brake line?ABS line? Snapd into to hold it in place-I wonder if I disturbed the wirs inside this-I think not as I was gentle with it and have since then wiggled it around and on and off the bracket mount and it did not change anything-I think it was slamming on the brakes in my panic stop that did it as a website said that “overloading the ABS can cause it damage”, and A ABS rebuilder said that the block has a circuit board that gets old after 17 years now of hot and cold weather and a solder connection may have failed??? The rebuilder sounds very helpful and smart, but he said he has rebuilt very few or none/ Valve Blocks, but he said he can and knows how?????-He is Gavin at ModuleMaster in Idaho USA.

I ran my fault/trouble codes for my ABS and the codes are ABS trouble codes 22 & 48 in that order.

22=Left Front Solenoid Valve Circuit
48=Missing Wheel Speed Sensor Signals (all three)*
*My note/Interpretation –all 3=Left Front +  Right Front+  Rear  as these three are also shown in book as codes.

The brake guy at my Caddy dealer said the 22 code is most likely valid and the 48 code most likely not valid.
He said that the most likely problem with a 22 code is a faulty Hydraulic Pump Flow Control Valve (GM. Pt. # 1646523  $877.58 Dealer Price)-also known as a Valve Block.
My caddy dlr. Printed a diagram of this part for me and the mechanich said to be sure to by the O ring rubber washers that are called Seals #21 on diagram.
The Valve Block is #22 on the diagram (coincidence or not as the code is 22 also for this part??)
I can Fax or mail this picture diagram if it will help you-GM04-323

Do you agree or disagree with my Caddy guys assesment of my problem??????????

Please help.
Can you guide me to anyone who rebuilds ATE ABS Valve Blocks, that is good at it and has repaired many Cady Blocks or the most of anyone in USA?????????

Someone said that there are circuit board inside of Block as well as solenoid valves????

A rebuilder in Israel website says rebuilt ABS works better than new as they can upgrade bad parts/design???

A rebuilder in the USA, ModuleMaster, said for me first to test the Valve block with a volt/OHMs Meter at the pin connections as this may not be the problem???????

What happened to Ed Eliasson?, he had some goog advise for Caddy ABS probs.?????

If you cannot help with Caddy ABS, please refer me to ED Eliasson if he is still on the site or someone else who is knowledgeable at 1990 Caddillac ATE Teves Mark II ABS repair.

Your guy at ALL Experts ED Eliasson mentions ABS fuses and the like, could it be a simple problem???
Please help in any way.
Thanks,
Scott Hansen

Answer
I can fix the system also. But I do NOT recommend that you even THINK about taking on this typ[e of repair due to the very very high brake fluid pressures that this LOUSY system produces. Let someone who knows how to rebuild and fix the system.

I have done several and it is very very expensive as far as parts and labor.
