Cadillac Repair: northstar location with pics of oil pressure switch, oil pressure switch, pressure gage

Question
1996 Cadillac Sedan Deville -
The ENGINE STOP LOW PRESSURE LIGHT came on after driving some 35 miles of low speed/high speed operation.Temp on instrument panel 212.
Also the smybol of a low oil level flickered on. Increased the rpm's and both went off.
Oil level is in the safe range.Oil pressure switch?
Possibly what else may cause this, with answer. It would be appreciated if you could provide info on ideas if this is the problem, and where the location is of switch with pictures. Thanks.

Answer
The LOW OIL LEVEL is either you do not have enough oil in the engine or you have a faulty sensor on the side of the oil pan.

The ENGINE STOP LOW PRESSURE LIGHT could be a fault oil pressure switch or possibly a failing oil pump.

I would have the oil pressure tested with an external oil pressure gage to be SURE that the oil pump is OK then I would replace the oil sensor.

You would need to e-mail me at: onlineautohelp@msn.com for a picture of the oil pressure sensor which is located next to the oil filter.
