Cadillac Repair: 1995 Engine in a 1993 Eldorado, cam sensor, wiring diagrams

Question
I just bought a 1993 Eldorado with a Northstar 4.6L.  Check engine light is on.  Checked codes.  No MAP signal, NO signal from Cam Sensor to Ignition Control Module.  Replaced sensors.  Still have light.  DIscovered that the engine is a 1995 from the VIN.  Can a 1995 ICM connect to a 1993 PCM without problems?  I understand that a 1995 ICM had an amplified signal and I don't want to blow up the PCM.

Answer
Hi Scott,

I don't have any experience with that swap. What I would do is get both manual wiring diagrams and look at their circuits and what terminals they use and see if they are the same. It might be as simple as backing out a couple terminals from the PCM connector and installing them in a different cavity. Maybe installing a '93 ICM would work. The other possibility is that wires were cut or broken during the swap and you would need to find and reattach the ends to get the signals to the PCM. One other thought is a ground wire was left off but that usually affects more things than just those two.

Sorry I can't be anymore help than that. Bill
