Cadillac Repair: 1989 Deville a/c problem, climate control unit, vacuum pump

Question
QUESTION: F12 code and no A/C New compressor, Drier and orafic tube. Blew cold for about an hour then went out. Compressor will not kick in. I jumped the relay and got the compressor to come on but no cold air. The car never would give heat from the blower either for as long as i've owned it. Could the climate control unit be bad? Please help

ANSWER: Most likely the AC/HEATER PROGRAMMER is at fault. I can provide test procedures with pictures if you e-mail me at: onlineautohelp@msn.com

QUESTION: Is the AC/HEATER PROGRAMMER the same as the climate control unit?

Answer
The climate control UNIT is the display panel that you push all the buttons for heat and AC.

The programmer is under the passengers side of the dash and is what mixes the hot and cold air and moves the actuators so the air comes out of the correct vents on the dash.

I do NOT understand this statement you made: no A/C New compressor ???????????

When you replaced the AC components, Did you evacuate all the air from the system using a vacuum pump and did you replace the ORIFICE TUBE ?.

Did or did you NOT replace the AC compressor ?.
