Cadillac Repair: Allante soft top leak, water leaks, allante

My 1990.5 allante has a water leak due to (i think) the front soft top cable breaking on the passenge side resulting in the canvas moving away from the top of the passenger window and rubber weatherstrip.  I'm not sure how to replace the cable within the canvas top although i have found a replacement cable for it.  I do have an allante service manual which i will review but could use some help.  I understand it is not a fun job.

      When the Allante first came out there were alot of problems with water leaks. I went to a class and helped repair the '87-'89 models but starting with the '90 model it was set up different. Therefore I will have to admit that I don't really have a clue what to do with the cable. So what I would recommend is ask the other Caddy experts and see if they have any experience with the cable replacement. Otherwise you can try to do the repair by yourself using the shop manual or have it done at the dealer.
