Cadillac Repair: cadillac repair, cadillac repair, cadillac sedan deville

Question
I have a 1992 Cadillac Sedan Deville v8 and the codes are 8.8.8  .E E .85  .E.E
E.85  .7.0   this is the order in which they appear.  My check engine light is on.
What does this mean?

Answer
EE85 = Throttle angle to high.

This is due to a blackish carbon residue buildup on the throttle plate (both sides) and in the surrounding area. Purchase a can of carb cleaner or similar type product and clean these areas that have this residue on it. Also look for tiny holes above and below the throttle plate and spray some cleaner in these holes as well.

PROVIDE that you have NOT tried to adjust the idle speed in any way what-so-ever.
