Cadillac Repair: brake lights and turn signals, cadillac eldorado, turn signal flasher

Question
I have a 1978 Cadillac Eldorado.

Questions"

1- my turn signals do not work. I replaced the flasher, hazard flasher on fuse block and fuses and still they won't work. What have I not tried? Have any answers.

2- when I depress my brake pedal, they don't come on. When I turn on my lights they do not work, but my tail lights do come on. Do have a idea why they do not work.

Please, let me know what to do.  Thank you so much

Answer
You have replaced the TURN SIGNAL FLASHER and the HAZARD FLASHER ?.

Locate the brake switch above the brake pedal and one terminal should have battery voltage at all times. The other terminal should have battery voltage when you step on the brake pedal. If you do not get these results, replace the plastic brake switch.

As far as the headlights not coming ON. Pull back the rug by the floor button that you step on to switch from low beams to high beams and follow the 3 wire electrical harness from the button upward towards the dash and you will find a connection about 6 inches up the wires. This connection melts internally and you have to cut out the connector and re-connect the 3 wires keeping the wire colors matched.
