Cadillac Repair: 1991 Cadillac Air Conditioner, intake manifold gasket, ac compressor

Question
I own a 1991 Deville That is on its second air conditioner the first having been replaced about 8 years ago. Just today I started my car and I got the message Service Air Conditioner on my dash and my car is blowing hot air. This is with an air conditioner that 2 days ago would freeze you out and made turning the air down to not be TOO cold.
I recently had my Intake manifold gasket replaced and had my coolant flushed and replaced, would this have caused my problem or has my Air conditioner died?
Would appreciate any advise, thanks.
John

Answer
The first thing you need to do is put a set of AC gages on the system and see if there is any freon in the system. OR you could jumper the AC compressor relay and see if the accumulator (receiver/drier) gets cold.

I can provide you with the location of the relay and the directives on how to jumper it if you e-mail me at: onlineautohelp@msn.com
