Cadillac Repair: Timing, engine changes, e13

Question
I just put a used 4.9L 1992 engine in my 92 Fleetwood FWD 4.9l, old one seized up. Replacemnt engine spins but no spark.Entire ignition system is new including ECM. When I jump A&B on aldl display should say "set timing manually". but it does not.Any ideas?

Answer
On the ALDL, terminal A should be a ground circuit to the body. B should have 5 volts. Do they ?.

If NOT check for an open ground or an open wire from B to terminal E13 at the PCM (computer).

Probable fault in the PCM or the wiring from the PCM to the display.

If the engine changes speed and or the timing DOES move when A and B are jumpered together, I would NOT worry about the display.

Check it out and let me know.
