QUESTION: Hello. I have a 1993 cadillac sts 4.9L. when i shut it off or randomly when Im driving the front and rear lights start flashing. this goes on for a while and then they shut off. I would really appriciate it if you could help me with this problem.

Answer
Most likely a fault in the turn signal/emergency flasher switch in the steering column.

Try hitting the steering column just below the steering wheel and or shaking the steering wheel to see if you can duplicate the problem.

replacement of the switch requires special tools to disassemble the steering column to replace the switch.
