Cadillac Repair: removing service power steering warnig, pcm 5, auto repair shop

QUESTION: I replaced my high side power steering sensor in my 97 eldorado etc. I can't get warning to turn off.

ANSWER: What was the reason for replacing the sensor ?.

ANSWER: When you took the car in for this problem did the display say SERVICE STEERING SYSTEM or was the CHECK ENGINE light illuminated ?.

QUESTION: service power steering warning has been on for 6 months but working fine. I'm told that the sensor turns off ac compressor when turning steering wheel all the way
ANSWER: NO, NO, NO. The sensor increases the engine speed when making a tight turn when at slow speeds or idle speed so as the engine does not stall.


Let's see if we can turn OFF that service power steering warning display.

Follow these steps.

1. Ignition ON, Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons on your climate control panel for 3 seconds and release them.

3. Diagnostic CODES will appear as a LETTER and NUMBER combination with the word CURRENT or HISTORY displayed with EACH CODE on the fuel data center.

4. Write down the LETTER/NUMBER that displays along with either CURRENT or HISTORY and then the display will stop at PCM?

5. Let me know what you get.

6. Turn OFF ignition.

QUESTION: I looked through 69 pages and nothing 97 eldorados.
I did find 1996 eldo but no help.
I cleared pcm codes aleady and did it again anyway and it says pcm codes clear but all the other codes are still there even without starting it.or after starting it.
I've heard that this might be a propriatary code and can only be cleared with a dealers tech 2 sysytem?????
