Cadillac Repair: A/C RETROFIT, pep boys, safety glasses

Question
How do i convert my 92 cadilac seville from r-12 to 134a and where is the cheapest place to get these parts needed.I have the refrigerant and vacume pump.....thanks Rich

Answer
Hi Rich,

I don't mean to imply anything but they make an automotive a/c for dummies. It is available at Pep Boys and may be available at other autoparts stores as well. I would recommend getting that package and it should cover everything that needs to be done. You might need to buy another can of freon because I'm not sure how many cans it comes with. The only thing you will need to do so you are in compliance with the EPA is to have the R12 recovered by a shop unless there isn't any to recover.

As far as price you will need to call around to find the best deal. In the shop we use 30lb tanks and piece together the parts to retrofit as needed so I am out of touch with where the best prices are.

Make sure to wear safety glasses and gloves when handling the freon because it makes things cold in a hurry. Hope that helps. Bill
