Cadillac Repair: 89 Cadillac Eldorado locks itself, cadillac eldorado, lt blue

Question
I have an '89 Cadillac Eldorado that has been draining the battery because it continually tries to lock itself even if it's already locked.  It took 3 days to kill a brand new battery.  I checked the fuses and can't find the one to disable the automatic power lock or whatever it's called.  Please help.

Answer
Hi Fernando,

With the factory auto door locks fuse 18 (10A, IGN 1-ISO) is the one that sends power to the automatic door lock module. The only problem with removing that fuse is that it also controls the turn/hazard module, info center, BCM, gear selector sw. and fuel tank. If you remove that fuse and the drain goes away then I would suggest unplugging the lock module itself.

The lock module is located behind the instrument panel below the steering column. It will have an 8 wire connector and the wires will be white, black, orange,lt blue, 5 is open or doesn't show a wire for 5 on the diagram, pink/black stripe, grey, black. Make sure to unplug the module with the key off so nothing else gets damaged and see if the drain has gone. If it has then tape or wiretie the connector out of the way to another harness.

      Hope that helps. Bill
