QUESTION: P094 and 1052, it went into the garage back in Feb.  was running rough , the vehicle was surging , the dealer did not know what was wrong with it, so they did a tune up etc.. 800.00 later... it did not fix the problem so we brought it back in, 2 weeks later,  they removed the engine cradle,removed side cover and pump assembly, removed upper and lower trans pan and replaced both the A and B solinoids and wiring harness, noticed the drive chain in the trans should be 1 1/4" of play, ours was 2 1/8 of play, test drove it and working fine, 900.00 and
now a few months later car now  not shifting properly, check engine light went on and the codes are P094 and 1052, brought back into the garage yesterday and they say the codes are P094 and P097, 1052, it appears that this garage is getting worse, they say the fluid is very dark, we checked it before it went in the garage and it was red not dark, we also checked the smell, it does not smell burnt, they claim in their statement it smells very burnt. we have since picked up the vehicle and had it brought to a real Cadillac dealer.I am perplexed, we first brought this into the garage because of the surging problem, I since read that thereis recall on the  car for a problem with the  throttle and cable, and it may cause, surging,...etc. I feel that we brought this car in for something that perhaps was a recall and now they have taken the transmission and engine apart and it  cost 1700.00 and now there is a transmission problem??????sounds crazy...help.....

Answer
P094 = transaxle shift "A" solenoid problem.

P097 = Park to neutral drive to reverse at high throttle angle which means that the idle speed is to high when you shift the transmission from the above said points.

1052 = Instrument panel reset indicator.

Did you CLEAR (erase) all these codes to see if any come back ?. If NOT, Do so.
