Cadillac Repair: Engine problems, electric fuel pump, cadillac sedan deville

Question
I have a 1997 Cadillac Sedan Deville. I was driving on the highway going about 70 miles an hour when the car next to me hit a piece of rubber that a trucker had lost. I couldn't mess it and I ran over it . My car engine died. I had to be tow home. My car now will not start. I'm sure its not getting any gas. Does this model car have an emergency Fuel shut off switch that applies in case of an accident? I was wonder how you would reset it if it does. I would appreciate any help I could get. If I can't figure out what is going on I'll have to get it tow again to be fix.

Answer
There is NO emergency shut off switch.

When you turn the ignition switch to the ON position ONLY, Without trying to start the engine, You should hear the electric fuel pump in the gas tank run for only 2 seconds and then it will stop.

get a helper to remove the gas cap and listen as you turn ON the ignition key.
