Cadillac Repair: starting my caddy, theft security, minuets

Question
the car will not allow me to start because i switched the starter and the theft security system, i believe that it needs to be reset but have no clue how to do this it is a 96 sls

Answer
Hi Mike,

Normally when the starter is replaced and provided all the wires are hooked up and the starter is good it should turn over and start. What exactly does your starter do? if nothing at all then try it in neutral or try your other key. Then disconnect the battery and turn the headlamps on for 30 minuets. After that turn the lights off and reconnect the battery and see if it starts. If still nothing verify that ignition voltage is getting to the starter terminal when the key is turned to the start position.

What do you mean by "switched the theft security system"?

Let me know what happens if you need more help. Otherwise have it towed to your mechanic because it could have been a coincidence that the engine isn't starting and it is something other than what you did. Bill
