Cadillac Repair: A/C, fuse box, climate control

Question
QUESTION: I have a '96 Cadillac Concourse with the Northstar. I am getting no power to my a/c compressor. The climate control module will not engage on the AUTO, but only on ECONO.
I have replaced the relay on the fuse box. Please help if you can.
Thanks

ANSWER: Most likely you are low on freon. Put a set of AC gages on the system and jumper the relay to engage the compressor and see what pressures you have.

QUESTION: I did that today and the gauges indicated that there is too much freon or pressure. The gauges went to the warning side.

Answer
Bleed off some of the freon as the HIGH SIDE PRESSURE SENSOR is causing the compressor not to engage. get your pressures correct and re-check for faulty relay.

You CANNOT leave the relay jumpered for more than a minute as you just want to verify compessor operation and freon pressures.

With the relay jumpered the compressor has NO WAY to disengage.
