Cadillac Repair: code history, cadillac elderado, fuse block

Question
When checking the code history for my 1995 Cadillac elderado code SO36 appeared. Looked it up to see what it is and it told me Electronic Level Control Compressor Short to Ground/Open.  What does this actually mean and can it be fixed without taking it to a mechanic.

Answer
Hi Earnest,

A history code is just that...history. It can be set sometime in the past by a problem or durring previous testing that didn't get cleared. It means that the compressor is supposed to work and doesn't.

What you need to do is clear the code and drive the car and see if it comes back. If it does then check the trunk compartment fuse block ELC fuse 30A and IGN-0 Body 10A fuse to see if they are ok. Replace, clear codes and redrive as needed. Then replace the ELC compressor relay. If the problem still persists then you will need to take it in. Bill
