Cadillac Repair: car shuts its self off., pressure gage, oil light

i will be driving my 1996 Cadillac at any speed when it will just suddenly jerk the i try to step on the gas and it wont accelerate. then slowly there after it will begin to decline in speed. till it come to a complete stop. then it oil light will turn on before it shuts its self off. It will start its self back up about 3 mins later. what wrong with it.

The first thing I would do is to put a fuel pump pressure gage on the fuel rail and tape it to the outside of the windshield so you can watch the fuel pressure while you drive the car to see if the fuel pump starts to drop off as the engine starts to act up.
