Cadillac Repair: 96 Cadillac Seville SLS trouble codes, cadillac seville sls, tcc solenoid

Question
My mom owns this car, and it is showing trouble codes 741 (transmission) and 1406 (EGR). The transmission was replaced a little over 3 and a half years ago. Brand new from GM. It has almost 33,000 miles on it. The warrenty expired 4 months ago. Is this something I might be able to repair myself? Or should it be taken to a shop. I have worked on cars all my life, and actually worked as a California smog mechanic when I was younger. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
You would need to perform test procedures along with pictures in oreder to resolve the ese 2 problems.

P0741 = TCC not engaging which could be a fault at the brake switch and or a fault of the TCC solenoid or the wires.

P1406 = EGR pintle out of position.
