JUST REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND THE CAR IS IDLE UP AND DOWN.  TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GOOD BUT HARD.  IT HAS MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR BAD.  IS THE AT SOLENOID THE PROBLEM AND WHERE IS IT LOCATED?  ALSO WHERE IS THE MAT SENSOR?

AAA TRANSMISSION
ROME, GA

Answer
Hi Jesse,

Most times if a newer trans shifts hard the line pressure needs to be checked because it might be at a high pressure setting and determining what controls line pressure might fix the problem.

If the engine is searching for a steady idle look for a vacuum hose that was left off. If all are ok then disconnect the battery for 20 minuits with the headlamps on to drain all the power from the computors. Turn the lights off and after hooking up the battery relearn the idle if it needs to be done.

In order to answer your questions more completely I need to know the year make and model of the vehicle you are haveing problems with.

At this point the best I can suggest in addition to the above advise is to scan for codes and see if there are any current or pending. Make sure to check for PCM and transmission codes. If there is a TV cable make sure it is hooked up and adjusted propperly. Make sure all the vacuum and electrical connectors are installed.
