Cadillac Repair: cadillac eldorado, gm tech 2, ebay motors

My 1996 cadillac eldorado--I warmed it up this AM with no problem. Went out, started it, came back in, and it was fine.  THis afternoon, I started it and closed the door to put something in the trunk, and it locked automatically.  I can't figure out what happened....can you help?  Also, how can I get a manula for this car?  I bought it used, and it did not come with one.  Thanks

Hi Mark,

      There are settings that can be programmed into the body control module with the GM Tech 2 scan tool that the dealers and some independent shops have depending upon what you want to happen. Sometimes very hot or very cold temperatures can cause a module to malfunction and do things that it isn't programmed for. That is what might have happened in your case.

      As for the manuals. Whether an owners manual or shop manual you can get an order form from any GM dealer and order what you need. Be aware that if you need a shop manual they are a 2 volume set...engine and trans. in one book and everything else in the second. They can be pricy when new but if you have time and don't mind alittle wear and tear try EBAY in the ebay motors section subheading manuals. Just enter 1996 eldorado and see what comes up. Also try amazon.com  That is my wifes favorite site to buy books and they might have a deal there better than ebay or the dealer.
