Cadillac Repair: 2000 Cadillac deVille Security System, gm factory, cadillac deville

Question
I have a 2000 sedan deville that has been in storage for about a year.  When I got it out, the battery was dead.  When trying to jump the battery, the security system engages and the horn and lights start.  I have never had the key fob as I purchased this used.  Are there any ways to disengage the system after a dead battery?

Answer
Hi Steve,

This is an area where if you have the GM factory alarm you could just get a key fob and have it programmed and you would be all set. If the car has an alarm that was installed at or by the dealer then I would just take it out and tape up the wires. Knowing what system you have will determine how it gets deactivated. Sorry I can't get anymore specific that that until I know what type you have. Bill
