Cadillac Repair: Stop Engine Temp Light, coolant level, main bearing

why do the stop engine temp come on after running the car for 15 to 15 minutes. and there is smoke coming from the oil cap. I haven't changed my oil in three months and the car make a loud grinding noise. Help Help

The light comes on because the engine is overheating, DO NOT drive the car after the light goes on...Check the coolant level and if you can smell coolant or spot a leak in the engine bay there is probably a leak somewhere. As for the grinding noise, check the level of the oil, if its empty chenge the filter and drain the oil pan then fill it up if its full, try to move the crank back and forth and if you can you have a worn out timing chain, if you cant its not the timing chain(or belt) and the next possibility is the main bearing, switching to 15w-40 diesel grade oil will quiet this.
