-----Question-----
87 sedan deville i have replaced three fan modules and they seem to last 14mo. and then they set cooling temp light. i have replaced fan motors and checked ground wire all ok. what makes the light come on  and what makes it go out at 42mph evertime
-----Answer-----
Check the coolant level, i would say it goes out at 42 mph because the air going into the engine bay at a speed above  30mph helps cool the motor down, so something isnt letting it cool down, you can replace the thermostat and flush the cooling system to see if it helps.

Run the car with the climate control on and with the heat all the way up, let me know what happens.

Answer
Ok, with the engine off, turn the ac on and put the temp all the way up to 90 degress, so that the heat is on. With it on, start the engine and do not drive it.
If the light still flickers there is a short, if it clicks on the way it is supposed to after 3 or four minutes i would replace the sensor on the thermostat housing along with the thermostat and gasket.

Also, make sure you have enough coolant, water WILL rust you have an aluminum radiator. Make sure the water pump is pumping water, and make sure the engine fans are in fact spinning.

Then, i would check the ground for the dash assembly, and run diagnostics.
