Cadillac Repair: Northstar Engine Oil manifold seal replacement, cadillac eldorado, gm dealer

Question
My 2000 Cadillac Eldorado is in the GM dealer getting the engine oil manifold(the expensive one)seal replaced. Will this new seal last any better than the original?? I have 106,000 kilometers or 70,000 miles on this car.

Answer
If you mean the Oil pan seal, depending on whether they use rubber or cork combined it RTV sealant it will depend. Ive always been a fan of cork combined with RTV, it seems to last for a very long time. But rubber for some reason to me seems like it cracks way too early in an engines life. If its rubber expect about 75,000-90,000 miles, cork you can expect 150,000+.
