Cadillac Repair: Theft Deterrnt System, cadillac dealer, wire splicing

Question
I recently change my alternator, and battery in my 1989 Fleetwood Coupe DeVille. After I installed both new components, I tried to start my car but it would not start. I noticed the security light flashing on the information screen, I contacted the Cadillac dealer and was told to bring it in and they will reset the system for $350. I was curious if I can reset it by myself?

Answer
The only way to reset it is to bypass the system itself, this involves a lot of wire splicing and you will need a few wiring diagrams, if it were me i would honestly take it the dealer. $350 is actually cheap to do this. I know on the 96 model the alarm cant be bypassed, but maybe pulling the fuse or unplugging the battery for over an hour might reset these. Also check the owners manual for procedures. And last you can hold the off and warmer buttons on the climate control, let all the codes read, and then hold off and hi, this will reset the bcm and pcm trouble codes but what the hell it may solve your problem.
