Cadillac Repair: 86 cadilic, fuel pressure gauge, cadillic

I just got a 86 cadillic gave to me i work on cars a lol but this one is geting fuel ween u start it but it only runs for a while then dies and u have to what to start does this sound like a computer related problem and will a diagnostic tester be able to tell me that                                                                          thanks hope can help

Hi Mark, It would really help if I knew what the model and engine size that you have in your Cadillac. Unless you have a check engine light comming on while the engine is running a scan tool might not show anything. What I would suggest is to hook up a fuel pressure gauge and see what happens as it is running and what the pressure is when the engine quits. If the fuel pressure is in specs then hook up a spark checker and see if you have spark. There is a possability that the computor might be bad and if tapping on it while the engine is running could get it to quit then the computor needs to be replaced.
