Questioni recenly purchaced a 1986 cadillac deville, 4.1 engine, front wheel drive. the service soon light come on. i'd written you previous and you told me to hold the off and warm buttons simultaneously, record the codes that are displayed and send this information to you. those codes are as follows: 30, 39, 47, 48 & 52. i hope this is the information you need to help me with my problem.
also can you tell me what problems can be caused by over filling the engine oil. the dip stick seems to indicate that there is slightly too much oil there.
AnswerA little bit over full won't hurt it.
E30 = Idle speed control motor problem.
E39 = Transmission over drive problem.
E47 = Computers not transferring information back and forth.
E48 = EGR system fault.
E52 = Battery was disconnected sometime in the past.
Redo the same sequence when you got the codes and this time when you see ECM?
1. Push the HI button until you see ECM DATA?.
2. Push the lo button until you see ECM CLEAR CODES?.
3. Push the high button and wait 3 seconds and then push RESET.
Redo your original sequence and see if any codes reappear and let me know what they are.
