I have a 94 deville and i recently been having this problem when driving the car it starts running fine but shortly into my trip it starts to loses acceleration, I can step on the gas all the way to the floor but it still cruise or sputters at around 20mph some times it runs fine but most of the time its surging as its running I have replaced the O2 censor and reset the computer, but im still having the problem  ....any ideas what could be causing this

Answer -
Let's see if the computer has any codes in it.

1. Ignition ON. Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons until the whole display illuminates and release the buttons.

3. CODES will start to appear. Write them down EXACTLY as they appear in the EXACT order in which they appear.

4. When you see PCM?, Turn OFF the ignition.

5. Tell me what the codes are.

NOTE: If you did not get them written down correctly, Just start over from #1.

The only code that appears is i039 History, all the rest are good , the service ride control lights up also but the car handle well when its no sputtering

thanks Calvin

Answer
What you need to do is put a fuel pressure gage on the fuel rail in the engine compartment and tape it to the outside of the windshield so you can monitor the fuel pressure as you drive the car.

My suspicion is that the fuel pump is going bad.
