Cadillac Repair: 1995 sls pcm, how to use an ohm meter, circuit resistance

Question
Cadillac found code P076 stored then tested solenoid and circuit resistance.Resistance checks ok.They followed trouble tree and found need to replace PCM and then diagnose further. That sounds   bad. If i pull the pcm from a junked SLS should it work or is the pcm tailored to each car?

Question -
Cadillac 1995  4.6 sls. I have now spent over $500.00 between 3 mechanics including the final stop at cadillac only to hear we think your PCM is bad.No point in listing all the codes as i think they are right about the PCM.Can i buy a PCM off a junked 1995 sls and just plug it in ?or Do i just pay the dealer to start new and hope they are right for the $800.00 plus they want.

Answer -
Unless i know what the codes are, There is not much I can help you with.

Answer
P076 = Transaxle pressure control solenoid circuit

Are you POSITIVE they performed the tests or are they just guessing ?.

All you need is an OHM meter and I can e-mail you a diagnostic chart that shows you EXACTLY how to perform the tests which are very simple to do.

If you are mechanically inclined and know how to use an ohm meter contact me at:
