Cadillac Repair: fuel pump, fuel pressure gage, 1997 cadillac sls

hiits a 1997 cadillac sls seville. first of all my ac said low refrigaernt compressoor off. so i brought it to the dealer and they said i needed a evaporator. 1400 dollars haha. i said no thanks. .then i picked up my car and drove 200 feet shut it off and it never started back up. call the dealer and told them what happen they said they will look at it. turns out they said i need a fuel pump sounds fishy. so i sprayed  a little either in and she started up for a few seconds and then died so do u think i need a fuel pump and if so how do i do it. other wise cady will charge me 1300 to fix it. aint it funny everything is over a 1000 dollars with these people. thanks alot i appreciate your time anthony.

Fuel pump test:

1. Get yourself a helper.

2. remove the gas cap.

3. have one person listen in the gas tank at the gas cap opening.

4. have the other person turn the ignition switch to the ON position ONLY so as the dash lights come on. Do NOT attempt to start the engine.

5. As soon as the ignition key is turned to the ON position, The person at the gas tank should hear the fuel pump run for TWO SECONDS and then it should STOP.

6. Does it ?.

7. If it does NOT run for the 2 seconds the fault is either the fuel pump relay or the fuel pump.

You really need to put a fuel pressure gage on the fuel line also just to see if it is pumping and fuel pressure.
