Cadillac Repair: 95 cadillac brougham antenna overruns, cadillac brougham, antenna assembly

80% of the time when either turning on or off of the radio, the power antenna motor keeps running after extending or retracting. I have cleaned the antenna itself with no effect. I am worried that it will quit working. Help. This has been going on for 2 months now. Thanks

Hi Maggie, Inside the power antenna assembly is a switch that is supposed to turn it off after it extends or retracts all the way. Sounds like that switchs' contacts are going bad. Unfortuneately there are only 2 solutions....replace the antenna assembly or remove the fuse when it reaches the top position and leave it up unless you need to go to a carwash or somewhere that will damage it. If you look in your owners manual it should say where the fuse or relay is located. I don't remember for sure but if the antenna is in the trunk then the connector is easilt accessable behind the cover and pushing a tab will allow the connector to pull out.
