i own a 1982 coup devile, with 8-6-4 engine, it no longer shifts cylinders, it is permanently in 8cy mode, any suggestions?..is there a replacement updated modern computer module available...my cruise controll does not work, the light comes on but no cruise...stopped about same time as cyl stopped shifting..could u please help...thanks, curtis harris.

Check your computer for FAULT CODES.
1. Ignition ON, Engine OFF.
2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons for 3 seconds and release them.
3. Codes will start flashing and will stop at .7.0.
I need to know what codes you get and HOW MANY TIMES they display.
Answer88 normal display. NOT a code.
15 Faulty coolant sensor. Replace it.
20 Open fuel pump circuit.
30 Idle Speed Control motor problem.
31 Shorted MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE sensor. Replace it.
88 normal display. NOT a code.
70 normal display. NOT a code.
Replace the COOLANT SENSOR first then clear all the codes and see if any return.
