Cadillac Repair: 1996 sedan deville ac broblem, cadillac dealer, data sensor

i have no power to ac clutch. jump relay, clutch engages. fuses are good. have codes ac1340 & ac1347. how do i clear them since my scan tool does not recognize ac codes?

Hi Tom, What you need to do is with the koeo or koer push off and warmer on the climate control panel. After aprox 5 seconds it will go into diagnostics and you can release the buttons. When it gets to "PCM?" push low fan for no until it shows "ACP?" and then push hi fan for yes. Then keep pushing low fan until you get to "clear codes?" and then push hi fan and it should respond with "codes cleared". At that point turn the key off and then restart the engine and if there is at least 1lb of freon in the system and everything else is ok the compressor should engage.

    Hopefully that makes sence. FYI most Caddys from '81-'96 can enter diagnostics that way. The exceptions are the Cimmaron and the Brougham from aprox '86-'90 with the olds engine. From there you need a manual to explain how to navigate the differant areas and what the numbers mean so we as Cadillac dealer techs don't usually use a scan tool to do the basic code reading, clearing or some of the other data sensor readings.
