well my cadillac makes it right up the street an then it say stop engine now engine coolant hot. can you tell me what that means and what the cause of that?

Obviously it is most likely overheating. If you have electric radiator fans they may not be coming ON.

AnswerFIRST you need to see if you have any COMPUTER CODES in your vehicles computers.
Perform this procedure:
1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position only. Do NOT start the engine.
2. Locate the OFF and WARMER buttons on your climate control panel.
3. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons until all the lights on the display illuminate (about 2 seconds) and then release the buttons.
4. Next you will see LETTER/NUMBER combinations being displayed. Write down all these LETTER/NUMBER combinations and then you will see this display: PCM?
5. Push the AUTO or DEFOG button until the PCM? goes away.
6. Turn OFF your ignition switch via the ignition key.
Let me know what LETTER/NUMBER combinations you get.
