Cadillac Repair: 99 Eldo starter replacement, elastic components, campaign program

Where is the starter on a 99 Eldo?  I've been asked to help a friend replace his starter...he told me it was under the intake manifold.  Sounds like a large job.

That is where they put the starter. Under the intake manifold.

Whoever designed this disaster ought to have their manlyhood chopped off.

You would think they would have learned when they put the diesel pump in the center of the engine down in a well which destroyed more elastic components within the pump that everyone had to be repaired via a manufacturer's campaign program which was FREE to the customer who bought a diesel vehicle.
